Wedding Entertainers

DJs vs Live Bands

Your wedding day should be one of the most amazing days of your life. However, most will agree that the stress of planning a wedding can often be one of the least amazing things you will experience. Planning your wedding can be a full-time job itself, on top of your other priorities and everyday responsibilities, it can be downright chaos.

For this reason, it is crucial that you begin the wedding planning process as early as possible. Once you have secured a venue, typically your next step is to book the entertainment. Securing the best wedding entertainers can be difficult as many of the highly sought after bands are already booked up months or even years in advance.

Choosing the right event DJ or live band is important because their style and personality will directly affect the overall mood and ambiance of your reception. Years down the road when your friends and family recall your wedding, many of the details may be blurry, but one thing they will remember is whether or not they danced, laughed and had fun.

For this reason, the entertainment you choose can make-or-break your wedding reception. You will want to select wedding entertainment that all of your guests will be able to enjoy, as well as something that reflects your own personal taste and style.

Whether you hire a party DJ or a live band for your reception really all depends on your personal preferences and individual taste. There are advantages to both, however, considering a few different factors about your wedding ceremony will help you decide which one will benefit you most.

The size of your wedding budget will be one of the weightier deciding factors. Evaluating the size of your entertainment budget will immediately rule out some of your wedding entertainment options. For instance, live bands typically cost more than hiring a DJ, so if your if you have a smaller budget, a wedding DJ may be the better option for you. You will also want to look at the size of your reception hall. Since bands contain several people in addition to their instruments and amplifiers, they will require more room than an event DJ.

A live wedding band however can create a different kind of energy than a DJ, as they are usually adept at speaking to crowds and interacting with the audience, live music tends to energize your guests and get them on their feet and moving more quickly. If you opt to go this route though, it is crucial that you hire a very highly recommended band, as they are the life of the party and the sound you will have throughout the entire night.

Hiring a DJ has its benefits as well. A DJ will not have to take breaks as frequently as a live band and event DJs have a wider range of music in their arsenal, giving you and your guests thousands of songs to choose from. However, DJs usually donít have the same energy associated with a live band, which is why they typically cost less.

There are benefits and drawbacks to both, so your decision will depend largely on your own preferences, venue set-up and budget. Whichever you go with, make sure your wedding entertainment suits your needs and is highly experienced at what they do. Skimping on your wedding receptionís entertainment is not a good idea
